Westgate Tunnel project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city shaping project for Melbourne and will provide a much needed alternative river crossing to the West Gate Bridge.  It will provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks from residential streets.

Todd Sheldon was the Buildings Zone Manager for the West Gate Tunnel Project. This involved the multi discipline design management of:

  • North Portal Ventilation Facility

  • South Portal Outbound Ventilation Facility

  • South Portal Inbound Architectural diagrid structure

  • Operations Building including the Traffic Control Centre

  • Main Intake Substation

  • Alternative Traffic Control Building

  • Maintenance Building

  • South Portal Outbound Substation

  • South Portal Outbound Deluge Tank and Pump Station

Todd lead a team of over 40 engineers and drafters and was ultimately responsible for the delivery of these facilities. Todd was involved in the project for a period of 3 years from tender design all the way through to the completion of the design.
