Get to know SCE Australia

SCE Australia was founded by Todd Sheldon to bring back a client service culture to the engineering industry. Todd was born and raised in Bendigo which has shaped him as a person and his core values of authenticity, integrity and positivity. These values are now a trademark of the entire SCE Australia organisation. Todd spent two decades mastering his craft in Melbourne and London on complex and challenging projects across the world. In Todd’s role as Technical Director with Aurecon Australia for over 10 years, he led large teams and was responsible for significant projects throughout Victoria and Australia.

At SCE Australia this same senior technical expertise that the large multinational firms promote is available, but is far more hands on and involved in each and every project. SCE Australia understands that clients want the best engineers working on their project and at SCE Australia, we can confidently say we provide this service. SCE Australia takes it’s recruitment and team satisfaction seriously, which ensures that both SCE Australia and its client partners are a success.

SCE Australia has offices strategically located in central Melbourne to service the Melbourne region and Bendigo to service rural Victoria.

Todd Sheldon - Director

Todd is an experienced structural engineer with a strong background in multidisciplinary design management. Since establishing SCE Australia as a solo venture, he has grown the business into a thriving consultancy with a dedicated team. Todd is known for his open, honest communication and practical hands on approach. He has fostered a strong client focused culture that is embedded across the entire SCE Australia team.

Dr Shan Kumar – Principal Structural Engineer

Shan is a highly experienced structural engineer with a strong track record of creative and forward thinking design. He has been recognised at the highest level in the industry, named one of Australia’s Most Innovative Engineers by Engineers Australia and awarded the John Connell Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to structural engineering. Shan brings deep technical insight and a genuine passion for engineering excellence to the SCE Australia team.

Glenn McCoomb - Principal Civil Engineer

Glenn has extensive experience as a civil design engineer. Known for his practical approach, he has a unique ability to simplify complex technical concepts, ensuring clients and collaborators stay aligned throughout the entire design process. With a strong track record in land development projects across Victoria, Glenn adds valuable local knowledge and expertise to the SCE Australia team.

Daniel Beuchat - Project Structural Engineer

Daniel is a senior structural engineer with extensive experience delivering complex projects across commercial, civic, institutional, and infrastructure sectors. Valued for his strong technical capability and precision, he consistently produces well considered, coordinated design solutions that align with client goals. Daniel thrives in multidisciplinary environments, where he actively drives coordination across teams to ensure seamless delivery.

Matt Thornton - Project Structural Engineer

Matt has a solid foundation of experience across both structural engineering and the broader building industry. With a background in residential construction and over 15 years working as a consulting engineer, he has contributed to projects across residential, commercial, mining and industrial sectors. His early hands on experience on construction sites has given him practical insight into building methods, which compliments his extensive design expertise and enhances his ability to deliver well informed, buildable solutions.

Michael Furjan - Project Structural Drafter

Michael is a senior drafter with more than 25 years of experience on complex structural projects across a wide range of markets. Michael uses REVIT extensively to model and coordinate structural documentation and produce comprehensive structural drawing packages. Michael is a driven team member that always works hard to achieve successful outcomes on all projects.

James Coughlin - Experienced Structural Engineer

James is a motivated structural engineer with a proactive approach and strong commitment to delivering quality design solutions. James is an approachable engineer with natural leadership skills and the drive to make every project a success. Carly Gow - Senior Administrator
